Audio Question
Just a general question. I am about to install an aftermarket deck in my vehicle and upgrade the bose amp. I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas of what size length RCA cables I would need since the amps are to be mounted in the trunk? I wanted to go with 4M (13ft.), however does anyone think this is too short and should go for 6M?

1) Take a long string and lay it out in the car in the manner you want to route the cable and mark the ends when done.
2) Take it back out and measure it. Allow for some slack.

That sounds like a good idea. Thanks! I figure that the RCA's would more than likely be run through the underside door panels (where the mercedes-benz plating) so you figure that would be the best place to start running the RCA's?

On previous installs, I have removed the seats and run the cables through the troughs fixed to the floor. They are typically black plastic boxes with lids that snap on. The seat removal also allowed me to completely remove the carpet and pressure wash it to get the previous owners crud off of it.
By the way, the string idea is waaaay to simple and effective.

Hmmm... I'm not sure if the installer would take out the seats, but I figure if they were to run it along the side as I had previously mentioned they would more than likely need more cord. In the case, I figure that I'm going to use that as the basic guidlines for the measurement and that way it if they did take out the seats they would only be a shorter length if anything. Better to have more than less.
In regards to the secret, I have someone installing it for me who has actually worked on 3 w140's in the past 6 months, and so I trust him with mine. Been in the business for about 22 years or so. I will ask him if he could let us in on it, and hopefully (if he's kind enough) will take some pics with my digicam to show us the procedure. That way I can post it.
Personally, with the bose set up... I wouldn't touch the vehicle to even put in the optical cd changer.... I've heard horror stories of people who started tampering with this car and oh boy ....
