Audio Question about mounting Amps

I've just about got all of the components that I need to start my install for the vehicle, but came across a situation that I hope someone can help me solve.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the trunk against the rear wall, is that where the gas tank is located? That's what I've been told, but for some reason I don't believe that to be true. If anything the piping that leads to the tank may run there, but not the tank itself. In any case, back to the question at hand...

The reason why I ask this is because I am trying to figure out where I can mount to amps in the vehicle without taking much of the trunk space. There is not going to be a sub box in the car, so I can't mount it to the back of that, and I was thinking about the back wall as aforementioned. If anyone has any suggestions, pics, etc. about how I can mount this (or even create an amp rack) I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Gas tank is against the back seat, from wheel well to wheel well. The "bose" amp in the factory system was mounted on the wheel well. I would pull out the lining in the trunk all the way around. I also have been told getting the back seat out is a bear.
I think you have a big project coming up, (eleven speakers) the two speakers in each front door are in enclosures, the ones in the dash are for the Cellular Tel if it was installed, and might not be there. The speakers in the deck lid are two (2ohm) wired in series on each side, one each in the rear doors, and the tweeter behind the rear view mirror at least on my 92 500SEL. The radio is a two piece, control in front running thru a large din to the tuner in the trunk at the base of the rear well. The antenna goes to that and not to the front.
I hear it has been done, but tough since there are wires all over.

I'm not really worried about the leg work that needs to be done to the vehicle in order to get all the speakers working, I actually have the all figure out. Do you think that the best thing to do then is to mount the amps where the old bose amp is? Or create an amp rack where the rear of the trunk is and mount them on that?
