Steering Wheels
My recently acquired 1995 S420L has surface cracking on the steering wheel cover - caused by sunlight here on the Riviera.
Just tried to replace it at the local (and excellent) Mercedes-Benz facility, but advised original part (colour is mid-tan) not-available. They can supply a wood/black wheel but this wheel is smaller diametre (390mm) than the original (original part No. 1404604603 - 8F94) which is 400mm diametre.
I would prefer the original sized wheel, but as an upgrade, fancy having it trimmed in ivory - which would fit in well with the rest of the interior which is ivory seats and carpet with mid-tan dash.
I could either use my existing air bag (mid-tan) on the replacement ivory wheel - which would look good with the existing two-tone ivory/mid-tank interior trim, or buy the new wheel complete with ivory air bag.
Anyone got any ideas how I can contact the full Mercedes-Benz dealer chain to see if one has an ivory wheel ex-stock ?
Anyone know of a really good guy breaking W140 cars - maybe has a used one ?

Check out this website for the same steering wheels that they sell at the dealer, but for a lot less money:
http://www.eris-car.com/
My friend here in Southern California ordered one from them for his 1995 E420, and they shipped it to him. The Riviera is a lot closer to Germany than California, so it should be no problem.
The prices are also unbelieveably cheap.

www.performanceproducts.com carries custom designed wood / leather steering wheels from Mercedes.
I couldn't find it shown on their website, but it is displayed in their catalog, and it says they are custom designed and made by MP Designs in Europe. The price says from $695.
Perhaps they'll be able to make one for you according to your choice of color.

I can check for you tomorrow, but you'll find that not a lot of Merc. dealerships stock steering wheels, because ther are so many different color combinations.
