Kuhmo MX tires SAVED MY LIFE!!!

hey guys, i had a scary run-in with the Grimm Reaper the other day. I was crusing down the street to school one day in Tucson (worst drivers in the world) and then all of a sudden some car speeds and cuts me off, then only 2 seconds later (my attention was slightly distracted) the guy brakes hard from 40mph to zero. I WAS LITERALLY RIGHT ON HIS TAIL but the time i realized he has just totally braked, so i smashed the pedal as hard as i could and the W140 braked better than I had ever felt. I literally pushed the brakes to its limits and even ABS kicked in on kuhmo MX tires (which is very hard b/c of so much grip). the car stopped almost instantly and i got slammed into my seatbelt. If i was on the stock baloon tires i surely would have hit him. The nose dived and the tires just bit hard and did not let up, the brakes felt fantastic. its good to know the W140 has amazing braking potential, you just need tires that can keep up with the brakes.

If you guys don't upgrade wheels/tires for cosmetic sake then at least do it for your own safety, its a small price to pay. Definitely getting kuhmo MX's from now on.

Kumho ECSTA MX's are, however, a high performance summer tire.

They're fine for good traction in warm conditions but not at all appropriate for cold weather applications. In Arizona, you wouldn't have to deal with this, but plenty of people in cold winter climates that drive their W140's year round would be better served by an all-season tire. Yes, you would loose ultimate dry grip in the summer, but in the winter the all-seasons would have grip superior to the Kumho MX's especially in snow conditions. The all-seasons are a compromise, but few W140 owner's want the inconvenience of changing tires with changing seasons.

Brett

PS. Glad you stopped straight and true.

Currently on foot.
Omey. Glad you're Okay. Phew!!!!

Best thing up here in winter are dedicated winter tires. Well, North of here anyways as Toronto never gets snow. :v
