What is VW thinking?
Ok so i understand the new VW Passat has a bunch of cool features...literaly.....a "air cooled" glovebox?! is this something new and innovated from VW or has cars past had this feature????I have never heard of a car having this..and for VW to come up with such a "cleaver" idea wheter it makes no sense or not...BMW and Mercedes might need to step up there engineers cuz VW could become a big luxury german automakers..

Mercedes has had this for a while, but for some reason got rid of it recently. My w210 has a climate-controlled compartment i the center console. I thought the w140 had it, too...

so my center console under the phone armrest in my 94 has a air cooled compartment too???..if so i got a tuna sandwitch that i can keep chilled!!!

yes i have been in a Phaeton,and i have to say i was impressed with what VW did,the inside was to much like the 7 series from BMW but then again so is the new w221 S-Class..and again there all 3 german automakers so it doesnt surprize me that they all 3 have somewhat the same lines,much like American automakers do here in the States..but when you think of German luxury VW is about the last on your mind you allways think Mercedes,BMW,Audi............VW. but i do like there new luxury ride.I here it comes with a EZ Bake Oven!

The Passat has been a entry level luxury car just like the A4 since 1998. They shared the same underpinnings from 1998-2005, the only difference is that the A4 came loaded with standard features unlike the Passat (In Europe this is a different story). My son bought a loaded Passat new in 2003 and saved $6K compared to if he bought a similarly equipped Audi A4. For 2006, VW separated the A4 and Passat but I think this was a mistake. The new Passat 3.6 4 motion is going to be a far better value than a loaded A4. The Navigation system, optional Recaro sport seats, and increased rear leg room is going to put the Passat between the A4 and A6 in class, but still under the A4 in cost.
