clunking noise from rear shocks

i had this clunking noise coming the rear of the car, right around the passenger side on the gas tank side. i have replaced the accumulator and the sound is still there. i only hear it going over uneven roads or small bumps at the low speed...i usually can't hear anything from going over large bumps and at high speed...i have read that someone else at another forum had a similar problem and replaced the rear shock absorbers...i don't hear anything from the outside, only when i am inside the car...it makes no sound even if i push up and down on the car...i hope it is the rear shocks as i have already purchased new ones...anybody with my assessment that the rear shocks are the culprit? i have a 98 s500. thanks.

so now I have replaced the back shock absorbers, front absorbers are pretty new...the driver side front springs had a crack so I just replaced it this past week...however, the clunking noise is still there...i think it is on the front passenger side...if you shift my weight side to side really hard while sitting in the car you can hear a little of the clunking noise...don't know what to do anymore...I will try the mb dealer when I have more time...any idea from you folks will be greatly appreciated.

it get it too, i have new shocks. to me is sounds like bad bushings of somekind, typically control arm bushings. A benz dealership diagnosed the problem of having front control arm bushings and the sound is idential to the one in the rear. so im thinking all 4 corners control arm bushings have gone bad. i could be wrong but thats what i speculate.
