Question SRS Warning Light on S500-95

Recently, I notice that the SRS waring light is on for awhile (3 minutes) after I started the engine. This is not normal compare to before, the SRS was off immediately after the engine had started.
I talked to the SA in Claridge Fremont, he said that it's ok if the SRS light is not on all the time after the engine started. Any suggestions on this or might be a trouble coming up later on and thanks for your help.

No, it's not normal. You need to check the SRS codes. You most likely have a faulty seat belt buckle.

Thanks for your response. I have an OBDII reader ready. How do I check the code? OBDII or other methods. Any DIY site for this problem. Thanks

You need a Star or HHT to read SRS codes.
Sometimes it's not a current code and a simple reset will fix the problem, but you need to take it to a dealer or an indy.

However, how may I read the SRS code if the SRS light turns off about 3 minutes after the initial startup of the engine. Does the engine or ECU go through cycles in which it automatically clears the SRS code by itself? TIA.

No, it won't cycle off. Even though the light turns off the codes are stored. You need to get it to a dealer to read and reset.

vinamg is right. You need the dealership diagsnostic equipment to access the SRS stuff. Codes may be stored even if a warning lamp light isn't on.

I'm not guaranteeing that there is a stored code, but you will need the dealership (or an independent with the equipment) to find out.
