Sunroof sticking - lubricate or ??
Have searched, don't find relative info.
My sunroof ('96 S420) slides fore/aft OK, but doesn't pop up without me pushing on it. Once up, it will close on it own but is a struggle.
Is this a lubrication issue or parts issue? Lube where? Replace which part?
Thanks.

thats a good idea, mine has been squeeking alot, Typically for problems like these silicone lubricant is a great lubricant to prevent squeeking and etc. u can find it at any local autozone or pepboys

I would say it is a dirt issue
If as you say for/aft works okay, than the motor is still good, however I doubt just lack of lubrication would make the tilt up be stuck. I suggest a really good cleaning of all the rails and moving parts, followed by a liberal application of MB sunroof grease ( it's cheap even by MB prices ).
I highly recommend this for the windows too. I believe dirty old grease is the reason so many window motors and regulators go on W140s.
I have a '95 S320, the windows were slow and I also had to assist/push the roof when I first got it. I was afraid that I would be replacing parts on all of them. That was almost five years ago. I open the roof and windows quite regularly.
Good luck.
