95 S420 Radio and/or Amp problems - please advise
Hey everyone. My 1995 S420 has developed a serious case of stuborness and I need some help.
About a month ago, the radio quit working. The display showed the radio station tuned in, it was on, but no sound came from any of the speakers. Went on about the day, didn't think much of it other than it needed to be looked at later.
The next day, while driving to work, sound started coming out of the speakers (all of them). It lasted for about 3 days before stopping.
Now, the sound coming from the speakers is intermittent. It is also intermittent from which speaker(s) it comes out of.
Typical example (happened last weekend). No sound. then 4-5 minutes of sound from the right front speaker. No sound for about 15 minutes. 2-3 minutes of sound from left side (front and rear). no sound for about an hour. Then, 10 minutes of sound from the right front again.
It has the factory stereo in it. The head unit looks like this:
IT has the 6 Disc CD Changer in the trunk, factory installed.
Is it a faulty amp? I've read that they are notorious for going out, but all teh descriptions of problems doesn't sound like what I'm experiencing.
