S and E/W switch gearbox not working stays on E/W Help needed!
Hello everyone.
My car stays on E always and will not switch to S. Of course the switch physically moves but it does not change anything. The car is supposed to move off in 1st when on S. It works only when the car is cold and for only 4/5 mins then slips back into E mode.
Very irritating when braking and accelerating (for example going round turns on city streets) the car is stuck on "cheuffeur driving mode" with very little response as it is in high gear when going round a bend.
Even worse is when going up a hill I have to floor it to get response. As you know on S the gear is lowered with just a little extra depression of the throttle pedal, not flooring!
Any one have any ideas?
Im guessing it is a sensor of some kind that has failed? The transmission is perfect (thank God, only done 67,000 miles) so it seems like an electrical sensor/switch?
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you all for your time, SAMM
