Smile 1995 S600 Coupe Throttle Attenuators gone bad

I cannot believe that such a magnificient car was built with such poor throttle bodies! Presently my S600 Coupe has less than 64K miles and I need to replace both throttle bodies and control module. Estimated repair cost, $12k!!! You would have thought MB could have built these things a bit better. I'm told that the things were built with disintergrating wire control board for 100K miles but mines lasted only 63K miles. Anyhow, just wanted to vent as I contemplate as to whether I want to get rid of the car after I have it repaired. Thanks!

Quite a few:)
12K is rather on the steep side.. You can get these units remaned (good success rate thus far).

Drop me a line, I may be able to find you a more reasonable/reputable mechanic if Bowie isn't to far from the VA state line.

As luck would have it, I'm looking for someone with an ETA (or two) in need of repair. It doesn't matter what W140 it's from. I am very interested in offering a repair service for ETA's, but I need one to work on to prove out a test procedure. As some of you may know, there are places out there that will rewire them for you, but they are not tested for proper potentiometer function. This means that you could be paying to rewire an ETA that isn't going to work due to one or more worn out potentiometers. If you have an ETA that needs work, I am offering to disassemble it and test it. If the potentiometers test good, I will rewire it using aerospace wiring and other components rated for high temperatures (better than MB original), and stainless steel braided sleeving, AT NO COST! You just pay for the shipping (from and back to you). How can you go wrong? If interested, please contact me via private message or simply reply to this posting.

p.s. Please see my webpage, I am very familiar with ETA's. I rewired one of my ETA's with 100% success.

how do I get mine to you? I have one with bad throttle problem. however, the car stars and runs great but the asr light comes on from time to time. after I turn the engine off and restart, the light might not show again for several weeks.
