Hi everyone.. I just purchased this car(1993 600sel - v12 w140). I have a VERY big problem.... everytime i start the car i get this very hollow, high pitched noise from the left side..the weird part is that recently when i drive with the windows down the air smells like a gas station.. i took it to someone and they said it is the airpump... i really dont trust their judgement and i want everyones opnion.. I am really starting to get worried.. (also the engine light has been on)... I love this car but i want to know before i spend hundreds of dollars on the replacement...

It might be the little thing that sucks air into the engine I have what y mechanic terms a slight harmisation or however it's spelt in the air suker in thingi I dunno. My best advice would be to go to a dealer get them to hook it into the computer and pull the fault codes, then you should know 100% what you are dealing with, it might cost you to have them do that but it's cheaper than replacing part after part to find the problem, good luck and let them know what you find.
