Cons of Upgrading to an S600?
I have a 400SEL (owned it since 2002) and it's serving me quite well. Granted things have failed over the years but I have taken good care of it and it's in excellent physical and mechanical condition (and every thing works great!).
I am considering upgrading to a 98 or 99 S600, mainly for the luxury features and nicer feel. It's definitely not for the power. For normal highway driving conditions (I primarily use my 400SEL for intercity or interstate driving), my 400SEL has more than enough power.
Here's the question I have:
What are the disadvantages of upgrading to the S600 from the 400SEL in terms of relative cost, repair and maintenance problems? Would especially like to hear from some one that's owned both the 400 (or 500) and the 600. I have heard varying stories that repairs are 4 times more expensive, and maintenance is 2 times more expensive. I want to validate those before seriously considering the purchase. Also, where would be the best place to look for an S600 in excellent all-round condition. Thanks.

If you don't want the power then don't bother there is almost no difference between a 400 and 600 in terms of features even the 300 has most of the features your better off getting a more modern 420 or 500, the only difference would be the two tone leather, wood steering wheel and a few other little things.
