s320 trans. problem
I have 2 replace the trans on my 95 s320. Can i upgrade to the 5 spd model without major problem has anyone done this is it feesable? Ive owned it since 3/06 and Ill probabaly never drive another lexus again. I am very happy with my car but the power.iamcurrently looking for another but this time a s420 blk/blk unless there are power upgrades 4 the s320.?.
My wife constantly complains about a hard gas pedal any solutions for this?
Im in So.Cal. so any leeds info on merc. used part houses would be greatly appreciated.

Your pushing it up hill if you want to squeese more hp out of the 320, well you can but it's nothing to write home about the 420 or even the 500 is a good choice if you want more power, the 320 is not really designed for the states with all your nice big interstates.

far as I know, all of the S320 models had a 5-speed transmission. The cars just start in 2nd by default so it seems like there's only 4 gears.
Does your shifter have positions for 2, 3, 4 & D, where 4 & D are left & right of one another? If so, then you have a 5 speed tranny.
If your car is the same as mine (92 300SE), putting the shifter in 2 when starting out causes 1st gear to be used, then it upshifts to 2nd. Also rapid application of the throttle past 1/2 way from a stop will cause the car to downshift to 1st, as does flooring it all the way to activate the kick-down switch under the pedal.
