I dont think you have a in dash CD in a 92 SEL, the CD was trunk mounted. The car has a multi device system, the dash is the control and cassette player, it has a cable going to the trunk where it attaches to the tuner, except if you have the CD, then that cable is routed thru it and back to the tuner. The audio is out of that tuner and goes to a seven channel Bose amp that feeds 13 speakers.
Your original question, yes tools are available. think of a nail file with a notch a half inch in from the tip, as you insert it the taper pushes the catch away from the sides, and the notch is used to pull on the catch. There are two required, I pulled mine once by working side to side with a nail file while pulling on the radio. you can get the fom the dealer or I see them on E-bay, a local audio dealer might do it for you. If you disconnect the radio you will need a code to re-activate it, check owners manual or dealer can provide.

Make sure you disconnect the battery before you disconnect the radio. When I pulled my radio out, I forgot to disconnect the battery, and I must have shorted something out because I heard a horrendous POP. I nearly filled my pants. I thought I fried the radio for sure, but thankfully it was OK. Have your radio security code ready, you'll need it when the battery is hooked up again.

Radio Removal Tool Set - Good Deal
You can get a dash service tool set which includes the radio removal tool and the tool to remove the instrument cluster from www.zdmak.com (part # MK-1725A) for $20. Might be easier than a nail file! At least you can see what the radio removal tool looks like if you try the nail file route.
