98 S500 - Replacing Spark Plugs

My S500 has 124K miles now and is running fine. Since I recently purchased this without exhaustive service records, I'm slowly but surely trying to catch up to the recommended service points.

At 120K, it looks like the plugs should be changed which I plan to do unless this is irrational.

My questions are:
- Anything particular about the plug brand and type used?
- Any tips or warnings about the remove/replace process?
- Anything else I should do while I'm doing the plugs?
- Any reason to do a compression test while I am at it?

You might as well do a compression test whilst your at it just to be sure the engine is good. Also as far as plugs go I THINK the OEM is Bosh, I ususally just let my mechanic do it. Also you should look at changing diff oil, fuel filter, air and oil filters, brake fluid, check the coolant and perhaps change it and regardless about what they say about the tranny being sealed for life it's BS so get that changed too.

Be careful

It sounds like your a "do it yourself" kind of guy. If this is true I would just say be gentile while moving the wireing and hard plastic hoses while changing plugs. They can be brittle at that age and can crack. otherwise its an easy job.

Drive on

Yup my last service the dealers buggered up a bunch of hoses that they were kind enough to replace and gave me a discount on.
