W140 Euro Spec Sidemarkers

Always fascinated with euro-spec parts, I finally got around to install fender sidemarkers.

Here is a pic of the lamps and harness

Pic of the template I made from the pics I got from BW

And after 4hours, here are pics of the car

Thanks to StarScream and to the 2 other guys who sent me clear pics of their markers

Great job!!! Looks good

I own a W126 and picked up a set of those in Finland for it on a vacation years ago; (looks identical to yours)

but can't decide whether to install them or not. My car is black also

Was it an easy quick job, and you did have to cut the fenders, right?

What kind of seal (if any) was used around them to prevent rust or corrosion?

How did you know exactly where to position them? What did they wire up to inside? They are fender "blinkers" right?

In some countries, like Britain and Norway, they were mandatory equipment.

Yes I had to bore out holes into the fenders. I noticed the W140 fenders are thin and soft as opposed to W201. I wanted the blinkers on my 140 to be perfect - so it took me more than 4hours. If I had a jigsaw - it would probably take half that time.

I had some non-US members take a perpendicular pic of theirs and just did classic ratio & proportion. I did this from 3 different pics and averaged the results. I came down 4 decimal places to be accurate.

The blinkers have stock gaskets. but for extra help, I used gasket maker to seal the hole. plus of course touchup paint to cover the bare metal.

wiring them up is the easy part. but will take a whole deal of patience to get the wire to snake thru the fenders. just tap into the corner sockets for power (brown = ground; green = power ...i think)

please post yours when you decide to. here is my other sidemarker
