hi guys! can anybody help me,need some input please.my electric mirrors ,steering wheel regulation and power seats all of a sudden stop working all together, anybody knows what is it,fuses are ok so it must be something else.please let me know if you encountered same problem or just know these cars better.thanks again
I have the same issue, power seat, steering wheel and mirrors all dont work. Any idea what this could be? It all worked fine and now it stopped working.
i just had this problem a few days ago i changed my fuse in the fuse box in the engine bay it takes a 20 amp, even if it looks like the fuse is not poped change it anyway you would be suprised.
I think I have the same problem. The short is being caused by the passenger side mirror. Is this an easy repair? I'm pretty sure the mirrors on the CL-class are the same as on the S-class.

I had that problem, passenger side mirror on my S420. Took the mirror off, little tricky, then found the wire and taped it up. Fixed it and been good for a couple of years.
For all of them to quit working at one time...it's a fuse or short in the wiring. Fuse box in the trunk. Look at your owners manual for the exact location....a burnt fuse would be the easiest and cheapest! Looking at the fuse(s) does not always indicate a burnt one....replace them..unless you did already in which event...you have a short. Start unpluging the mirrors....one at a time....then replace a fuse and test to see it they work...if not...a short or the brain box is shorted out.

Hello guy's, I am brand newbian to the forum and hate to jump in like this but I just took pocession of a 1996 S500 with 130,323 miles. It is in great shape but after one use the power seats, steering column and side mirrors are not working. " They worked once and then done" . Previuos owner said he jsut replaced that fuse befor I purchased but out again already so more than likely a short. Passenger side mirror has a crack at the connection to the car so I am guessing short maybe there???? Also, can someone point me to the fuse for the front seats??
I solved the problem on my '98 CL600 (w140) with the mirrors, seats, and steering adjustment failing every so often. It was definitely a problem with the passenger side mirror that would blow the fuse every single time I tried to fold the mirrors. Since the seats and steering adjustment were on the same fuse, they would also not work until I replaced the fuse. Anyways, I took it to my mechanic who specialized in Mercedes and confirmed that the sheathing in some of the wires inside the passenger mirror were damaged thereby causing the short. He charged about $95 to repair the frayed wires. It's been about 2 years and the fuse has not blown since.

Theres a module under the carpet on the passenger side, it controls funtions to what you have mentioned.. This is the module: http://www.ebay.com/itm/W140-Mercedes-Power-Mirror-Control-Module-140-820-14-26-/200874819616?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2ec5128020#ht_21wt_652
Thannks, I will look into this. In the mean while I am hearing that changing the 20 amp fuse under the hood should fix the issue. However, I am still a little confused (sorry) there are 3 or 4 20 amp fuses in the hood fuse box. Can some point me to sa specific fuse? Or jsut change all 20 amp fuses ?
Hi guys! I am new here on the site. I have a '98 420 and the mirrors have not worked for years now. They used to fold back, but now they just move a little and click when the button is pushed. It's like they want to work, and you can hear the mirror motor making noise, but they do nothing. Any suggestions? Many THANKS for any input.
