Advice on W140 purchase.

I am considering the purchase of a '98 W140 S500 for my dad. The car has 86K one owner miles and has all of the service records from a local MB dealer. I have not seen the car but my dad tells me that it looks nearly new.

I am not as familiar with the W140 cars as I am the W220's. Are there any "special" items or problems that I should be on the look out for?

Thanks in advance.

w140 purchase

well i just bought my first w140 about a month ago and i havent regreted it one bit.
from what i can gather the main things on these beasts are the electronics.
check that everything on it works, self closing pump, folding mirrors, electric windows and sunroof, also im told the springs are known to snap.my advice is to turn everything on and off.hope that helps a little

they're good cars. just make sure that the vacuum pump works, by testing the self closing doors and trunk.
