The site works, shows how to do it, but not what it takes for batteries. I have the newer style, and my older style is with the car at MB this week. I hope you are discussing the big boxy remote, it should have a 129...etc part# and was introduced in 91 for the SL and is the size of a zippo lighter with no key ring loop. When I got my 140 there was one of those in the owners manual and the dealer provided two more remotes half that size, which were a running replacement, their part# starts with 140.... etc. usually use the old one for valet/dealer. I have never replaced those in mine.

thanks for ur reply. when i click that site nothing appears just a little pic on left top. yea mine is that big boxy one without the keychain loop. i went to dealer and he says he doesnt carry anything for that remote. only thing concern me is that it has two different # batteries i dont know it thats right or wrong ( i think it should have all 4 same batteries)

Got my car back, and opened the remote, and as I stated previously they are 675PX. Varta is the brand name (German)they typically are 1.5v the .5v is not correct, change them all two up two down. The two+ side are towards the key and face up the two others - up. The red indicator should illuminate in the remote window.
The owners manuals are PDF and opened for me.
Anyway aim remote towards door sensor and push button briefly. within 30 seconds lock or unlock door or trunk with master key.
