Thumbs up Temp Gadge

S500 Temp Gadge should always be between 80"C - 100"C, but not over 100"C when ideling or driving when AC on or any distance.

However you must see first if your S500 is overheating, check Upper and Lower Hoses, Radiator, Thermostat, Waterpump and very important you Coolant Temp Sensor.

In my car I have a small issue I'm trying to find. I have a 98 S420 and changed the Radiator, Thermostat, and Upper Hose now the gadge goes up when I drive elevation. The vehicle isn't getting hot or overheating when I have it parked for an hour with the AC on no problems. This coming Monday I'm changing the Coolant Temp Sensor that should help.

However with your 2 Aux Fans in the front and the main Fan behind the Radiator, the 2 small ones should run intermit every few min to keep the Temp at 90"C when the vehicle is in park with AC on or not. When driving it does the same regardless with AC on, if there not turning on then you need the Sensor changed they should cost $60 each and labor shouldn't cost more that $75.

If you find a good Tech that's reasonable then he will know where to find low cost parts and do the labor for a fair price. I had my Radiator and Thermostat done $700 all in including the Flush.

Make sure you flush it because that eliminates the possiblity of Air Pockets. Please check your connection to the Aux Fans and your Fan Clutch to make sure your getting full blowing power to the Radiator so the car always stays cool.

I hope this helped.

Wes.
