when i bought my car both the abs and asr lights were on. the previous owner said it was a sensor of some kind he had takenoff to disable the abs i dont know why he would want this done. ive had the car since january nd havent had a problem with any of the braking system. just replaced with slotted rotors an new pads and calipers. i think you will be fine if u dont wanna spend any money on it right now

asr/abs light

i had this problem on my wife,s w210 out of interest does the cruise control stop operating when the lights are lit mine did.
anyway the problem is the brake pedal switch if you get down into the footwell you will need to remove the lower panel you will see on the brake pedal assembly a small switch with 2 or maybe three little plugs on it i removed this to order a new one which was cheap about £15 (uk) whilst i was waiting a few days for the switch i gave it a good clean with wd40 and refitted it out of interest. that was 3 months ago and it has worked fine eversince.
hope this helps
