Slight buzzing sound from rear-view mirror area

I hear an occasional buzzing sound from the rear view mirror area of my 96 S420. The little slotted vent near the interior light controls sounds like one of those outdoor bug zappers.

Has anyone encountered this problem, and what was the fix.

Thanks,
Chris

Sounds like your HVAC aspirator motor/fan is going out. The aspirator is a small fan that sucks in air to examine the tempature, etc.

No, the sound buzzes on occasion. I think it is mainly occuring at night or early in the morning. Spoke to the local FJ Benz dealer this afternoon and they agreed that it sounded like the aspirator motor was failing, I am going to pick up the part tomorrow and fix it this weekend.

I have a similar problem and thought there was some bug that survived 2 degrees at night in my car. Could you tell me how much did it cost you for this whole thing?

Thanks,
