Opinion Needed -- 1995 S420
I need a second car that isn't going to be driven much, and have come across a 1995 S420 with 119,000 on the odo that they're asking $5,700 for. It is black/black and seems to be in great shape and comes with a 3 year, unlimited mile warranty (not that I'll put many miles on it).
Was wondering what the general opinion was of this year/model. Anything I should be paying any particular attention to? Thanks for any feedback.

Have a 400Se and two other, 1994 S420 and 1995 S600.
Suggest having a Mechanic check it over... in-fact, think about visiting a Mercedes Dealer and spend the money (can be $75 to $150) to have them do a once over for you... unless disassembly is suggested as necessary.... the Service writer should advise (prior... just give them "specific instruction criteria) should in-depth inspection be suggested!
It will be well worth the money and they will give you the info you will need in writing. Any items of concern can be addressed and/or you will have any areas of opportunity in writing to allow price negotiating. If the previous owner was diligent with service and care.... there should be no major areas of opportunity... but if not, this "pre-purchase inspection" will be well worth it! Promise!
I am a retired Mercedes Benz Engineer (30+ years) with Mfg. facility(s), resided en Stuttgart, Deutschland. Hope this advice is of assistance? Dutch (Hibbo Ohlings)

Thank you Dutchland 400SE for your suggestions . . . not a bad idea at all. If I buy this, it will be my 10th MB and I've had great luck with all of them. I currently have a '05 C230 that gets used most of the time, but need a second car. The dealer that has this car seems to have a very good reputation, it is just a one-man operation and he seems very honest. I did a CarFax report on the car and it has no issues that come up. The report also indicates that the car has been serviced religiously at a local Phoenix MB dealer.
As far as your job is concerned, with 30+ years as an engineer at MB, I have to say you've done a great job -- you should be very proud of what MB has accomplished.
Thanks again for your reply.

1995 S420
Great Car
I own a 1995 S420 and find it to be a very reliable vehicle. Mine has about the same amount of mileage on it, too. The ride and the performance are both outstanding. I would agree that a thorough inspection is a wise idea. I would also advise finding a good independent mechanic to work on the car. With regular service and maintenance, the car should serve you well provided that the prior owner has been diligent in these areas.

I own a 1992 Benz 500SEL with 78,000KM and I just had to replace my Engine Harness. I paid $1200 just for the part itself never mind the installing 2 days of ripping and tearing and installing. What a PAIN. Also I have noticed alot of sensor issues as well
