Hello all,,
How do I tell if I have auto leveling and adaptive dampening (ADS)
or just auto leveling,,
thank you,,
i need to get these rear struts changed :P there driving me nuts :S

ADS had a switch on dash with a shock symbol, level control was standard, are you shure you dont just need accumulators (bouncy ride) the struts are typically $1,000, accumulators $100

problem is there is a bad knocking/creeking sound that comes from them,,
im sure its the struts.... so if theres no button on the dash, theres no ADS?

Correct, it would be right under the radio, on the right side, above the passenger heated seat button. Usually, you only find ADS on the 600's since it was standard, but it was offered as an option on the smaller engines. God, I miss my 94 S420. Just had to come back to this forum for a second.

greetings, rear suspension creaking /knocking on my S500 was caused by a hydrolic res. can mounted on the top of the shock having little or no fluid in it,this is on a 1997 S500 with ADS option,don't know if they did away with this on later models

Hello,
My mechanic showed me what the res. looked like and stated that it is mounted on top of the rear shock ,cant tell you wether there is one or two involved.my main hydrolic res tank was nearly dry and when fluid was added knock/rumble/squeak disappeared.He had a few of these cans on hand because there were a run of bad ones for a while.Hope this helps. Perhaps someone else on this forum has had a similar problem and can shed some light on it as well.
