Jammed Shifter!!!!!!!!
Well I am working out some of the problems on my 300 SE . When I test drove the car i could not get the shifter past 2nd gear . The women I got it from said she never went past D !! Somehow I believe her! She said I may find some toys in the car which told me she had kids!! You know how kids like to put things in little holes that should not have things put into? I have a feeling a foreign object like maybe a coin! was dropped into the works! Question how do I get the wood top off the console? My E420 had some screws and off it came! Ever notice how MB really likes to hide screws!! So anybody got any ideas to pull that top off? Thanks

Before I go tearing the top wood off my shift console to see why I can not shift back to 2nd gear, who can tell me if or how the linkage works ? Cable rods ?? Anybody ??

This ought to give you some clues for the trim. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb1.asp...Cat=19B&SID=68
The shifter should have mechanical linkage. May just be worn bushings preventing it from manually moving down to 2nd. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp...SGR=075&SGN=02

Hey TM ! Thanks for the links now I know what it looks like! I think I may have solved the problem! I called a trans shop in Texas called Fixeuro.com. I talked with head guy and he knew what was wrong!! Inside the tranny there is for a better word like a safety linkage the is out of wack and not allowing the selector arm to move into 1st gear! I guess it is pretty easy fix and can be done when I change fluid. I guess the linkage could actually be removed . It is for those with kids or no brains that would say try and drop to 1st gear doing 80 mph ! It is built to save the tranny! I am going to take it into EUROSPEC IN Asheville and have them change filter and fix the problem! Boy I feel so much better now knowing nothing major wrong!!![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
