Another A/C Evaporator Thread...and more
My dad decided to have a Mercedes mechanic replace and fix the infamous evaporator on his 92 300SE this week. We were going to attempt to do it but decided it would require too much time that we both don't have. Anyhow, I have done some research on this for him. From my research it was recommended to use a 1995 and up evaporator since they are all aluminum. The mechanic is going to order all the parts from Mercedes. Do you guys know the correct part number for the right evaporator? or all the new ones are already the aluminum kind. Since he is taking everything apart is there anything you guys can think off that should be replaced since everything is opened up. He has also been having problems with the radio showing "E2" error (from what I understand could be amp) which we will ask him to look into. Also the car has a slow electric leak that empties the battery in a couple of days if the car is not used. I appreciate all your inputs, as you may know this is a costly repair and we wanted to make sure it done correctly and fixed anything that might need attention as well.
