93 400 SEL
I am interested in buying a 1993 400 SEL. I love the body style and the car in general.
Can anyone tell me the pitfalls of this vehicle and if I should pursue this car? I have found a pristine 93 with 98k for around 7900.00. The link to the vehicle is below.

Thank you in advance!

It does look clean, a few questions, has the AC evaporator been replaced? The trunk lid should be pulled in flush. Its a very common issue, on this early model. It also appears that the radio has been switched out, the 93 had a "Bose" system and very few people have adapted anything to it, this includes the CD, so the wiring has to be interesting. The 400 is a short wheelbase car and does not have the burled walnut wood work. I dont think it has the electric rear seat, or some of the other options unless ordered, level control, heated seats, electric headrests. The maintenance would interesting, trans, suspension, close assist.
I would go lower, dont let impulse drive you, ask a lot of questions and get it in writing

400SEL is a LWB model though. 400SE was the SWB model sold in 1992 only. What is the issue with the trunk lid? I've seen a lot of them don't look like they fit right?

looks great. i have a 1993 400 SEL and absolutely love it. the trunk issue is with the close assist pumps, can be pretty annoying or if your lucky an easy fix. (reseting sometimes fixs mine but ive given up most the time, need to get it fixxed soon) all in all this car looks great! the interior looks a bit too shiny, its not suppose to look like that.

Sometimes it is the lower latch , if pulling the fuse corrects it read, this article. I looked at the intro to service manual on the 140 for 92 and the 400 SEL was not shown, maybe it was introduced in 93. In further checking it looks that way.
