Almost bought a W211 E55......
kinda of a long story but here goes-
Looked for a porsche 911 for over one year. First the 3.2's then the 964 then the 993 then the 996 and even the 997. 993 is really the one I wanted even tho I didn't think the performance was great till I drove a TT 996 2002.
After I lost a 1998 C2s from a private seller in NY to a dealer in Washington State, I kinda soured on the idea of getting a good 911 for a fair price. It was just too hard to find that right car. And when a dealer wired $28000 into the sellers account sight unseen I knew it was time to look for another sweet ride.
Enter emovings 2003 E55. I woulda bought that sweet ride if things woulda shook out better than they did between us. I even looked up flight info to his part of the country. I didn't like what I found out on the VMI that a freind from corporate benz ran for me. Hotrod realtor ended up buying it a few weeks later. It was a great buy for 22K w/the stockers on it and 24K w/the after market wheels.
Then Peter 02 AMG's car became avail. 2002 E55 Kleeman and a ton of mods. I tried to buy it from across the country for 16K. But there was a buyer that had been in touch w/that seller and was dragging his feet. Well he undragged them and wired the funds into peter 02 amg's accouny and I lost another great car. Lost yet another great vehicle.
So this past Saturday I purchased a 98 W140 to scratch the itch I've had for a german car. It aint a E55, but its a hell of a sweet ride and built like a bank vault. It will require maint, I know. But its a lo mile 60,000, one owner car w/all records for a great price.
I'm psyched about the new purchase and in the future I will own a newer benz

You must be happy to have finally gotten the W140. Welcome to the MB world.
There were some very small production runs for some W140’s as well as some very big numbers produced. Lots of engine choices too.
What chassis code and model is it, coupe or sedan?
What engine is it running?
What transmission does it have, the 4G or 5G or is it a manual?
Is it a Daimler-Benz 1998 model or a DaimlerChrysler 1998 model?
I look forward to seeing the photos of such a low mileage example. Snow shouldn’t matter, take them in your garage.
Maybe you should have posted in the W140 section, it's not really topical for the AMG's .

All the excitement and discussion leading up to your new purchase and now you’ve finally got your first MB and we don’t get any details. Not even the colour or model or options, strange indeed.

not sure how to attach pics, maybe someone can post the link...
anyhow..1998 blk/blk daimler benz (not sure if there is any other type from 1998)S420 moderately optioned in excellent to pristine cond. Bought from orig owner who bought from dealer local to me. 64,700 miles on the clock. Good carfax. Good VMI. Dealer maintained for all campaigns. Oil changes after warrantee done by local mom/pop garage.
need rims/tires since they're stockers.
Got it for fair price.Certainly not a steal but I didn't overpay either. Actual # is my business.
