IS ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE SIft knob ? W140 S500 1997
is anyone know how to remove the shift knob i want to change to wood and leather one mine is only leather. i tried to spin towords left, right,
but it wont come out it just spining...

im not sure how it is in the w140 but ill tell you how i did it in my 03 s500 and my 1980 300sd s class.
in my 03 s500.. underneath the shifter knob you unscrew the chrome or the black trim plastic piece thats at the botom of the shift knob then all you do is pull the knob straight off strongly.
in my 1980 300sd i removed the shift knob just my pulling it straight off... then i had to remove the shifter gate and unscrew the shifter metal stem... i then reinstalled the shifter gate and screwed the new wood shifter knob that had the metal stem already attached to it.
