Does anyone know how to remove the entire Drivers side outside view mirror.
I am blowing fuse #30 whenever I control the mirrors or the steering wheel adjustor. When I use the window switch it doesn't blow. MB dealership said I had a short in the wires (harness) in the outside drivers side mirror.
I want to get to the wires and harness but can't get the mirror cover (shell) off or know how to remove the total mirror from the car.
Anyone know how to do this? Anyone have pictures?
Please help, thank you!

Remove the inside cover...use care when prying it off....small plastic pointed "clips." One at the top and bottom. The cover prys off easily. Once removed...you'll see a piece of foam, unless it was already removed and not reinstalled...remove it and and gently pull the wiring harness until you see the connector...pull it apart...you'll also see 2/3 nuts holding the mirror in place...remove them and the entire mirror can then be removed from the door.
Thanks Benica, I've been reading many different posts with not much success and this is the 1st one I've read that says that I should go from the inside of the car. All others mention to go behind the mirror from the outside.

Unless you have a different mirror setup....it can't be removed from the outside. Even the wiring harness has to be disconnected from the inside.
Thanks. I'm driving a 1998 S420, seems like it might be a different mechanism. Will be trying on Sat. morning and will let you know.
