Mercedes Benz S 420
Engine Swap on a 1995 s420
Was looking to buy another s420 and swap motors and other parts needed for my car, then part out the rest of the donor car. Has anyone here done this? Any major problems or pit falls with this project? Also going to swap trans as well. Should I also swap computers?
My car has 209k on it and various different things wrong with it and hasn’t been driven it for some time. New car/donor has 114k runs mint no leaks.
I know most of you would say drive new car, but it has some body damage, paints bad and int not as nice as mine.
Any help would be appreciated

the only thing I can see from reading various forum threads is the wiring harness needs to be inspected and replaced more than likely. Otherwise it is a gamble one way or the other which bolt on parts might fail from the new engine compared to the existing....water pump, alternator, MAF etc.
What do you think is wrong with existing engine which a new block and head and related components is required ?
Regarding transmission, what do you know about the donor car and how well it was maintained ?

It should be feasible. Are they both the same year? And yes inspect the wiring harness. Check and see if any of the insulation around it is cracking, if it is you should replace it as well.
