What to look for
In reviewing records the following items were replaced:
8,032 miles Oxygen sensor
17,500 Instrument Cluster
20,723 Cylinder Head
31,000 Driveshaft flex discs and drive belts.
What should I expect next? Is it worth $2000-2500 to purchase extended warranty?
I have reviewed this site many time while making purchase decision. You all have been a great help. Thanks

As for the warranty, I would say its up to you. Sometimes these cars need no work, but other times these 140s can be a real pain in the a**. Its merely "the luck of the draw" as Haku stated. He has a 600 and a 320. His 600 never needs any work but his 320 is always having something done. I recently picked up a 1992 600sel and the thing is a complete headache (as are ALL of my mothers W140s). They are in the shop at least once every other week for something (usually not always $$$ but sometimes whatever breaks is $$$). So if budget is an issue I would suggest the warranty. What are the details on the warranty?
There is a total payout cap, typically in the $10,000 to $12,000 range which sounds reasonable....but
Max Paid on Electrical could be as low as $600
Max Paid on AC could be as low as $1000
Max Paid on Transmission as low as $2500
Max Paid on Engine as low as $4000
various other component categories, $500 to $1500.
Things NOT covered..which are likely to be a problem...
Wiring Harness is famously bad in these cars
Rotor, Distributor Cap,
Radiator
Head Gaskets
Mass Flow Sensors anywhere, intake , fuel, exhaust
It just seemed to me the only way the program was worth it was if I had multiple component failures and based on discussion with a couple mechanics, that is not likely.
