Question about new front coil springs installed.
Hi guys.I just had two front coil springs replaced today and the mechanic put the new ones right out of the box without adjusting or cutting them. Now my car has high front and low rear.Looks totally stupid ,like low rider in the rear with high nose.Looks like suv in the front. He says it's normal and the springs don't need to be adjusted before mounting them.I said something about counting points and cutting springs before putting new ones so vehicle looks level ,he says it's b.s.I read older treads and somebody wrote that those springs may settle down within a week or so.Anybody could tell me what normal gap between the tire and the rim should be in the front? Also my rear shocks are ok but old.I was wondering if replacing them with new springs could level the car? Anyways is it dangerous to drive with front high and rear low?I have no idea if i should drive on the highway like this.
I am usually very polite ,trying to avoid conflicts but i wonder if this job was done fair or he had no idea what he was doing? I did not pay him for the job yet.I left my vehicle in his parking lot to check with you guys first. Please help.Have a great day guys!

I would like to thank you guy for helping me with my previous thread about front coil springs. It turns out that the mechanic was wrong and uneducated.Besides my car looking like clown i am happy that i did not spend a single dime on this repair yet.I am laid off after all, money's tight.Today i called friend of mine and we went to couple of Mercedes benz dealerships to check the part number 1403210704 ,the front coil springs that my mechanic installed in my vehicle. In both dealerships i was told that this part does not much my vin#.Actually does not even much the year of my vehicle. The correct part# is 1403212404.The ones he installed is good for vehicles with vin ending with 120932 when my is 374327.So the spring he installed in my 1998 are good for older models most likely 92-94.I was advise by MB not to drive the car since that can cause chassis damage, possibly an accident. The worst part will be confronting the mechanic tonight,he acts like he knows it all.I guess i also will have to tow the car to dealership.I am also considering a purchase of HR springs since from reading a lot of threads i understand nobody had ever problems with.Thank you again and if anybody can advise on HR springs and where to buy them i would grareatly appreciate that. Thanks again guys, you helped a ton.

Thank for that.I was thinking the early model w140 were taller,I was going to find their springs. To install on my car to make it higher off the ground like my w126.The H R springs are good springs but the car would be to low for me.
I perfer trucks but there is nothing long lasting as a Mercedes Benz.
So I guess I'll keep her height a little stock, and raise her a inch with spring expanders.
