Troubleshooting the accumulators on automatic leveling rear suspension
I bought a used 98 S500 with 87K miles on it. The suspension oil tank was down, so maybe it was evaporation. It looked like it had the original oil in the tank, so I flushed the system and put new oil in it. I noticed that one of the accumulators was replaced with an aftermarket Corteco accumulator.
The question is: how do you determine if an accumulator has failed? can anyone describe the driving characteristic with a failed accumulator? I do notice a rear suspension harshness on rough pavement.
Thanks,
mike
