new owner of a S500, posting some reviews and pictures
Good day everyone,
I have just traded in my 99 Lexus ES300, in favour of a 93 S-500 w/ 110k miles, and just wanted to introduce myself and the car![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
First of all, I read all about *issues* with early W140's, but a simple evap system, little electrical issues here and there do not concern me... any car you look at has its fair share of issues, and with the Mercedes at least I get the security of being in a well built car in the event of an accident... not to mention the overall solid feel that no other car can match, short of a Bentley.
So far I have needed a few parts here and there... brake pads, oil cap, tranny filter and drain bolt, air filter, spark plugs, and parts from MB dealer have been cheaper than Toyotas so far...I was very surprised when I got my bill as I was expecting these parts to cost twice as much at least.
Car drives like a dream, tranny shifts very smooth, Evap diagnostic shows correct temp/ pressure in the a/c ssytem... found a tag in the engine bay stating "leak found", and "leak fixed" signed by a MB technician, so I am assuming at some point it may have had a faulty evap afterall.
I also found a receipt stating that HVAC fan was replaced a few months ago... although I must admit I wish the operation of HVAC knobs & buttons were a bit more user friendly and uncluttered ala Lexus style.
my gas consumption so far has been approx 14.5 Liters per 100 km, combined city/highway... for our US folks, each gallon is 3.9 Liters I believe, and 100 km = 60 miles, so I believe thats about 16 MPG
These are some of the pictures of the car the day I took delivery... if anyone wants a detailed comparison between a Lex and MB, let me know I will post.
Thanks for now, and I will be around here often![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
