couple of questions

hi all, im newer to the w140 forum, but a regular in the w126
i wanted to ask a few questions

1. our steering wheel has alot play in it, i can move it about 10 degrees to one way and there is no response in the car, its super loosey, like an old cadillac eldorado
is that just from a warn steering component down below?

2, also, im getting NO heat in the car, even with the temp all the way up, no matter what i do its still cold, or cool

any tips, thanks

car is a 98 S500 with 214000 miles

send your car to a mechanic and have him check and adjust your steering component.

benzworld, i don't really like the forum and the way they outline the forum, its so lame and i could not find any interesting individual who are seriously wanting a solution to their problem, too much ego trippers on that site. i do visit the site when someone needs technical assistance.

for W126, i memorize them by heart from bumper to bumper and there is nothing in it that cannot be fixed or address, the whole 126 series is just fantastic and mechanic friendly, just the electrical switch for the air conditioner, that thing is a defective engineering design. the rest of the car is simply the best and the most durable. Don't expect everything not to fall apart after so many years, the engine part like the fuel distributor is one thing that can go wrong but seldom will it bug down as long as the car is being used on a regular basis.

the W140 is a bit of a headache with it's hydraulic self leveling suspension and the wiring harness that can destroy almost all of the electronic box/control modules.

W220 is the worst of them all, nothing good to talk about except the interior and exterior design but performance, i vote it the top looser.
