vibraration in wheel at 80mph,,

hi i,am new to this forum, i have a 94 s420,just goten, new trires have all new brusing up front went for a ride on trunpike to new york,, got a bit heavy foot, at about 80, 90, mph, car gave off a bit of vibrartion in my stering wheel,, other than that car ride,s fine , can any one give me abit of advice on what,s going on with that thank,s mel dwyer 94 s420

As dtkw says, make sure that your tires are balanced. Actually, you can ask the tire shop to balance your tires at high speed setting on their tire balancer. You may have to pay a little extra, but it is worth feeling safe driving at high speeds. If this does not take care of the problem, have the tires checked for "roundness". Sometimes the tires can be out-of-round, i.e. defective. You may have to buy new tires, or if your tires are new take it back to the tire shop and have them checked. Also, remember: you get what you pay for. Do not put cheap tires on your MB. I learned my lesson a long time ago... .

I have had a similar experience, and after some speed tests the tire lost air pressure. The car pulled slightly to the right and responded to control well until the tire was totally ruined. We changed it just outside of Blue River BC Canada. All that tire changing equipment works! By keeping the speed low the tire has a tire shape, but at the higher speed the shape changes ( probably bulges ). I suspect this tire may have had some road damage from before.

Tire vibration

140's have a vibration problem. Just a bad design. The only way to minimize it is to stick to Michelin tires. That may seem weird, but ask any good Mercedes mechanic, and they all know about that vibration problem and the fix.

Vibration

My 92 had a vib problem since 94, lots of work by the dealer. I went thru more Michelins Vs Hs than neccessary, and i am talking MHV4s. I finally went to Bridgestone Turanzas, and had the lower control arm and swaybar bushings, plus the steering damper replaced. NO MORE VIBRATION at 40/50, and yes MB claims the MIchelin to be a better tire, I am no longer convinced. ROAD FORCE balancing a must!

1994 Mercedes Benz S 500
vibration

I have the same vibration in my 94 s500 between 40-60 mph. My mechanic said something about front swing arm bars? And it will cost around 750, any thoughts on this? I have brand new Michelins on the car.

I have continenetal contiextreme and go all the way to 120 without any issues.
