1997 S600 Air Conditioning EC Light Stays On. What Diagnostic is Built In?
Dear Group,
MB 1997 S600
I have an original 1997 S600 with no previous AC problems or repairs.
After starting and driving ~.5mi, a whining sound that varied with RPM began within the engine compartment. I stop and turned off the engine. Upon restart, the sound was not present, but the EC Light on the climate control panel was on. Pressing the button will not turn the light off. The light has remained on through multiple driving cycles. The belt is intact.
Question: It is obvious that MB has built some diagnostics into the EC Light. It is not being allowed to be switched off because some other fault condition is being detected. Do you know what the fault conditions are or where I can find them?
