1997 s500 coupe
sweet s500, expensive repairs, help!
Hi,
New poster. I've found some parts for my 1997 s500 coupe, not much money, OEM, but used. My usual mechanic, quite reasonably, doesn't want to install them because he doesn't make any money on the part markup. I've called around, and most Mercedes mechanic take a similar line. Trying to save money, though. How do you guys usually get used parts installed if the mercedes mechanics don't want to?

You're lucky that you don't have an S600
My local Mercedes-Benz dealership has installed parts that I've bought through other sources, "my" mechanic also just does the work with the parts that I purchase, and so does the shop. I find it easier to get order the correct parts and then tell the person what I want done instead of making them try to find the part and possibly order the wrong one.
Ask if your mechanic will just accept a higher labor rate or see if you can work something out?
