Hi Folks,
Just a few questions regarding the S420:

1. The power door locks, trunk, central locking switch and lumbar (?) seat adjustment are all not working. From what I gather, it is the central vacuum pump. I checked the fuses etc but to no avail. are there any other suggestions? Where can I purchase one, new or used?

2. This may sound ridiculous, but what is the best type of coolant for the car?

3. Would anyone know where I can purchase some inexpensive touch-up paint?

4. The clear coat is just barely starting to come off the trunk and slightly off one wheel. Is there a way to stop/retard this problem?

5. The dash light is on telling me there is an external bulb out, but darned if I can find it! Does this happen when bulbs are mismatched?

6. Where can I get a service manual either on DVD or in PDF format?

7. Can I get a replacement key without going through MB?

Whew!

There was more but I of course have forgotten.. :-)

I believe you have to use Mercedes-Benz coolant, check your local dealer. That's what I used in mine.

Go to your local dealership. I ordered some touchup paint for my S600 and it was around $20

Pictures? You might have to take it to a bodyshop if it's too bad.

5-
Did you install LED's? LED's are low power so they appear to be out by the car's computer. Double check turn signals, low beams, high beams, DRL's, brake lights, 3rd brake light, and reverse lights.

You can't download it and you pay a yearly membership fee, but most people are satisfied. I have a membership for my Mercedes.

I doubt it. Call the dealership and ask if they can cut/program a key if you have a blank. If not, you'll probably have to buy it through them.

Thanks very much for all your help!
I did notice that on the inner-most taillights, one is missing bulb and looks to have a factory
installed plug in its place. Odd.

No problem!

Try taking out whatever is in there and put a bulb in. Has the error been happening for awhile or did it recently pop up?

Here's an offer for a free touch up paint pen, you pay shipping. It might be worth a shot, but I prefer using OEM products.

It just recently popped up.. Dash light only appears when I hit the brakes, then it stays on till I turn car off. Checked all the brake lights and everything seems good..
