engine transplant (v8 or v12) into 320/300
hey guys, im thinking the only way to make a 300SE fast is simply ditch the stock motor
. I'm looking into some motors and I'm thinking the S500 V8 or the S600 v12 will be a nice addition to the car and they are going for relatively cheap.
I have a 1993 300SE SHORT wheel base so its much lighter than the long wheel base, so i think a v8 or v12 would really be a nice addition to the car. I will take out as much excess weight from the car to further enhance performance.
i've seen a few S430 (01 ) motors and some E420 motors for $2000-3000. but it just doesnt seem like the 420 motor is a big enough upgrade for the cost, not as cost effective. well if anyone can help i'd appreciate it. thanks

cost of engine, transmission , ecu box, wiring harness, suspension, rear end ratio for the differential, making all the abs and rest of computers work with existing S320 sensors (some of which are different from V8 and 12's), the headaches of figuring out the wiring, labour cost, locating parts some of which may have a waiting period as they have to be shipped from germany, etc etc...
you are better off saving all that cash,...selling your car,... and buying a V8 or V12.
on a car like civic where you can yank out the 1.5L SOHC and drop in a B18C5 type R and plug in an ecu splice two wires and call it a day I would say go for it.. on one of the most complicated cars on the face of the earth ..I would say dont do it!

interesting, i thought it was straight forward swap, i guess i was wrong
then i guess i will just take this 320 motor to the max. it has 230HP and 232 torque, is it possible to hit 270HP and torque at the crank on 320 motor?
heres mod list...
Ram/Cold air intake kit
Mechanical fan removal
high flow exhaust (custom most probably)
straight pipes with X-pipe or H-pipe
custom headers (if i can find a place to do it)
and performance chip.
i think all those should at least get me to 270 crank HP if not 290. not to mention that will be a TON of weight reduction (pun intended
