Deciding between S500 and S600-v12 a problem?
I own two S600 coupes, one '94 and the other '95. I've had
the '94 for 6 years and the '95 for 2 yrs. I also have one of
the original '87 AMG "hammers" so you know I enjoy performance.
I considered the S500's originally for the same reason you
stated - a number of folks told me it was too complicated, too
sensitive. Bunk - the S600's are exceptional machines, not
to be compared with their 8 cylinder conterparts re performance.
The handling/suspension is as good as I could possibly ask for -
they perform at 140mph rock solid and firm footed - an absolute
joy, couldn't ask for better (I previously owned a Corvette ZR1
that I wouldn't take above 100 because of fear of desintegration,
etc. - sold that monster quick). I live in Reno so I spend much of
my highway time on moderately winding highway roads, no
straight line freeways in these mountains.
I've never done anything other than normal maintenance on
the S600's except to replace the driver door hinges which are
prone to early deterioration.
'Nuff said, more punch for your buck and an EXCEPTIONAL
performer (plus a handfull of very tasty interior enhancements
that are fitted on the 600's exclusively). I'll bet none of your
"advisors" ever owned either - - - -
Hope this is of assistance - Email if you need any more
encouragement.
