Engine Stops running '98 S320
I have a 1998 S320 That had a problem today. My wife was sitting at light and the engine just stopped as if she had turned it off. Tried to start it and it would just crank as if it had no fuel (tank is half full). There was no fuel smell at exhaust pipe.
I came to help and the car still would not start called AAA for tow. When tow truck came (car had been sitting about an hour) I tried to start it one more time and it started right up. Ran the engine a little, raised RPM, etc. All acted normal. Decided to drive it not tow it. It only ran for about 1 1/2 miles and stopped. Called tow truck again. It sat for about 45 minutes waiting for him. When he got there it started right up and he drove it onto the truck. When he got it home. It started again without problem, but i know it has some problem and don't trust it. Question is what. I checked the fuse for the fuel pump it is good. I didn't check yet to see if there is a fuel pump relay, but will look to see. All accessories work fine, no error lights, etc. I'm still thinking maybe a fuel pump, but not sure how to check it when it is running.
Any thought would be very much appreciated.
