ASR problem

My S600's engine dies as soon as you let go of the gas pedal, but will keep runing when you give it gas, the ASR light has also come on.

Any ideas?

Is it the main engine wiring harness thats bad? Pretty expensive job; mine has already been done supposedly, and I have ASR issues... Have them check all of the throttle control and ASR stuff while they're in there too if they haven't.

The insulation of the wires in the section in between the engine's intake runners have become really brittle and come off when touched.

Im not in the USA and it gets really hot here in my tropical country.

The harness in about $500, and changing it is just a DIY job. Have changed the harness of my W124 E420 by myself before.

DIY job, I like that . So this IS the main engine wiring harness, or is it the one associated with the throttle control module?

Im not really sure which one it is, but its the one thats connected to the injectors, engine temp sensor, engine fan sensors, camshaft position sensors and two other sensors. Replaced it a couple of days ago and car is fine now.

Replacing was very easy, the only tricky part was unplugging from the injector nearest the fire wall (S600), it was tight and out of reach.

sounds like the main harness to me. Now that makes me wonder if mine was really ever replaced. I'll have to check into that.
