SERIOUS ISSUE!! Please help
I believe my 96 s420 is in limp mode it won't shift out of second. Just stays in second won't down shift or upshoft stays in second even when you shift to 4th,3rd and so. Was having a weird revving issue where it would rev up and down at stop lights and surge and lurch forward when slowing down and then it started shifting a little harder into 1st and today while visiting my uncle it just went into just second. I want to go ahead and thank you guys for your wisdom and any help would be greatly appreciated

check to see if wire harness seal coming out of trans is leaking.Sometimes fluid will wick to main computer under hood.Correct if so.Search conductor plate faults and see if that could be whats happening.There are several things you can service before you decide it needs a trans. go to www.benzworld.orgP.S before you do anything check fluid to see if color is pink.If so drain trans mission and t.convertor.Purchase either new radiator or buy external transmission cooler,and pervent trans from using radiator cooler.The radiator lines can rot.
