qestion about my 96 s500
Does the trunk release when you pop the button on your console above the shifter?
If it opens:
Step one: Reset the fuse in the trunk. I believe that it is #9. Pull it out and put it back in.
If that doesn't work:
Step Two: Start at the PSE pump under the back seat and go from there. A leak anywhere in the system can cause the other parts to not work correctly. There is a secondary pump in the trunk for the latch and trunk release. Check that one out as well.
Mine had a leak in the hose connecting to the passenger front seat adjustable lumbar support that was causing the AC vents to open and close erratically. Capping it off seems to have curred the AC problem.
I replaced one of the acutators in a door and it caused the other 3 weaker ones to break. Lots of weakest link theory going on in that system.
I have a 1999 S500 so to me, this is the most annoying system in a W140. ( no wiring harness issues on later W140s) Even when it is fixed, you still have to reset the fuse now and again.
Good Luck,
Mark
