Engine stumbles when cold

Engine stumbles when cold
My S600L's engine stumbles and sometimes dies when you start it from cold. You have to give it some gas before it will idle smoothly.
There is no problem when starting with the engine warm.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Try this. At next oil change, change the oil filter and drop in Mobile one 5w - 30 fully synthetic. That oil is like the rolls royce of oil. Motor will run much smooother than on that dyno sludge you have in there. The synthetic not only runs smoother, provides less resistance and helps motor rev better, its also flow much better at room temperature and instantly starts lubricating the engine vitals right on startup, dyno oil takes a while and is like molassis at room temperature.
hope that helps.

Shake? well not really. Just a bit more vibration since its not running smoothly when cold.
About the synthectic oil, thanks for the info and maybe I may try them on my next oil change. But I dont think that its the cause of the problem since Im in a tropical country and the oil never gets to see cold temps.

careful about using syn oil in older cars...not sure what year your S600 is, but with syn, it is thinner, therefore in older engines, it can lead to leaks in places where the dyno oil wouldn't.

Thats not necessarily true, at running temperatures it has the same thickness as a dyno 5w-30 oil but when cold (i'm not saying freezing, even at room temp or a few 100-200 degrees) its alot "thinner" you could say but that allows all the vital engine components to get instant lubrications.
If cold running is the problem its most probably oil. Give it a try if it doesn't work at least you are better protecting your motor and will have smoother revving car.
its a win win situation

I drive a 1992 600SEL. This is pretty common. I really don`t know what the dealer uses for oil. Mobil 1 in the newer MB engines, but not sure about the older? Had any mojor problems with the engine lately?

I also use strictly Mobil1 15-50w in my cars and it runs better with it. I've noticed that the Mercedes likes to eat it up a little quick, but that is most likely an oil leak that originated before I bought the car. I recommend Mobil1 for any german engine.
