Question 92 S600 SEL

need info on plugs and coils, fuel/air sensor between the banks.
have big probs - only 95,oookms too. Banks flooding - heaps of white smoke out of one exhaust and feels like limp mode. Its intermittent.

Should I plug it in and go that way or replace plugs/coils or I believe th 1992-4 models had wiring loom to close to exhaust system (heat and strip insulation off wires on loom) and prone to loom getting water in that area under fuse box.

Where should I start?

Cars great today but loathe to give it rev's which of course is a huge reason for my enthusiasm to buy in the first place. The old guy that owned it before me must have never given it stick (high revs). ARS light has been on since I bought it - comes on about 4 minutes after driving along.

I'm a newbie so hope this is okay to post comments like this here?

received my 12x spark plugs from USA yesterday and watched a utube video on the a car like mine S600 coupe with same trouble (Russian guy) computer info told him plugs 11 and 12 were faulty and they were definitely more worn than its bro's and sisters. So I have decided to start there. Incidently that didn't fix it and he was onto the flow meter that controls the carburettors (throt bots) that is between and under the heads of course.

As I said I'll try 11 and 12

Keep up posted. I'm interested in finding out what's going on with your V12, too. Good luck.

Had some beers with a guy I knocked into at the place I get my tyres he has a S400 SEL - having issues and has also been told about the degrading insulation on all the looms. I thought it was just the 92-94 V12's but appears they all have it during those years?
We also had a great chat about W140's in general - we're going to make it a weekly sess.

Anyway back to the purpose of the thread - me and S400 are going to get the diagnostic equipment and start learning codes - my 12x new plugs have arrived from EBay and tho' I said I was going to replace 11 and 12 - I have decided to replace them all and make notes about the visual condition of each one from 1-12. That's in a few days so back soon.

If you're asking about code readers just get a standard OBD2 reader from an auto parts store or Sears. Doesn't need to be the fancy kind that interprets the symptoms. All of the codes can be searched on the internet. The plug is located under the driver side dash area.
