99 S420 prepurch question
A dealer has this car with 167k. He states that when the engine warms up the car stops pulling when trying to excellerate especially up hill. But it only occurs when the engine is at operating temp.
He's asking $3k, sure it could be had for less. Any thoughts on what might be causing this problem and cost/complexity to fix? I'm willing to do the work if it isn't too difficult.

There are other W140's out there with fewer problems with the about the same miles going for $3K or less. Just be patient and get one without the issues. My experience is that it's not worth the headache of trying to diagnose on a car this old.

I agree with knbs550 why spend $3k on a car with a unknown transmission issue? Symptom could be torque converter, drive shaft, etc. if you love this car let it warm up to operating temp and take it out for a drive, if the problem is as described I would walk away...
